Where are you from and where do you live now?

I’m originally from LA, but I live in NYC!

What are your interests aside from fashion?

I avidly keep up with politics and I’m very into Twitter subcultures.

What projects are you currently working on? What is your main focus career wise at the moment?

I’m in the midst of starting a YouTube channel! Learning how to film and edit has definitely been a huge learning curve, but I’m excited to really get the ball rolling. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, so I’d say that’s my main focus as of right now.

What inspired you to start sharing your life with the world?

It was honestly very accidental at first. I kind of fell into it and didn’t start taking it seriously until about a year ago. Sometimes it scares me to share parts of my life, but I’ve met so many amazing women on the Internet that I wouldn’t change a thing!

What do you love most about what you do?

My Internet friends! I’ve met so many great people via social media, and It’s so funny to me how I feel so close to people I’ve never actually met in real life. I love the little community we’ve all built together.

If you weren't currently working in fashion, what do you think you would be doing?

I actually have a full-time job in marketing! If I didn’t work in marketing, I think it’d be really fun to be an interior designer.

What is the biggest piece of career advice you've received? What advice would you give?

Best advice I ever got was don’t make the same mistake twice. I’m a perfectionist and get really hard on myself if I make a mistake, but we’re all human and mistakes will be made -- just learn and move on! My piece of advice is don’t work more than you live. I think the idea of 24/7 hustle culture (which is especially apparent in NYC!) is such a load of BS. Make time for yourself!

Describe your style in one sentence.

Eclectic and playful.

Best piece of style advice?

You can clash patterns!

Who do you look to for style inspiration?

Children's clothing!

What style are you most coveting for fall?

Sweater vests!

Which organization did you choose to donate to and why?

The Okra Project, which is a New York City based collective that focuses on providing meals for Black transgender/non-conforming folks who are food insecure. I specifically wanted to choose an organization that specialized in aiding Black trans folks, and it’s the icing on the cake that the Okra Project is based in my home of NYC!

As part of Matisse's Give Back initiative and in partnership with our brand ambassadors, Matisse will match a percentage of sales associated with Sophie's promo code in the form of a donation to The Okra Project.

Enjoy 20% off full-price items with code SOPHIE20. Offer ends 10/3/20 and cannot be combined with any other offers or applied to previous purchases.

Based on individual donations, The Okra Project pays Black Trans chefs to go into the homes of Black Trans people to cook them a healthy and home-cooked meal at absolutely no cost to our Black TGNC siblings. For those Black Trans folks currently experiencing homeless or whose homes cannot support our chef’s cooking, The Okra Project has partnered with institutions like Osborne Association and other community spaces to deliver foods.
